New domain or subdomain for translated site?

Hi everyone, I’d really appreciate an expert opinion on what to do. We have our main site that is only in Spanish. We have bought a new domain and have manually translated the site into English. Internet searches and ai says this is not the best way forward as it can dilute the Spanish site rankings but an SEO expert who we really trust says it is the best way as we can link back to the main site.
Do we hit the publish button on the English site?! Thank you

Just got confirmation from Ted K that AI is wrong, to hit publish on the new domain. There’s hope for us humans after all! (for a while at least…!)
