I'm still on the sideline watching LLMS.TXT.

Where I'm at, AI reading [SIC] content and scraping facts off the page isn't much of an intellectual property issue. Facts are themselves not copyrightable and short of defamation and violations of privacy, quoting something somebody said is not an offense. But, I understand countries like Germany have a different sentiment over this type of usage. I use Germany as the example since my CTR remains unchanged for Germany as they don't have AI overviews.

It or something like it certainly has the ability to become adopted ...

All the tests I've done so far with LLMs.txt have not be crawled by LLMs (checking that in my logs).

Official adoption by major LLM providers is not yet universal. Anthropic is the only LLM that has officially adopted LLMS.TXT standards

Google says normal SEO works for ranking in AI Overviews and LLMS.txt won't be used

Google said it won't be crawling your LLMS.txt files and just do normal SEO if you want to rank in its AI Overviews.
